Reach Rescue
Recently He Puna Pumanawa have been swimming every Wednesday and Friday. At the moment we have been learning to do reach rescue. When Miss Candish said the word reach rescue everyone froze in confusion. She soon told us what it meant.
Everyone has to choose one buddy and one of them goes into the water. The other person goes to get a pool noodle. Now the person in the pool will move about 1 metre away from the side of the pool.
The person on the outside of the pool will go onto their knees on the concrete and putting their stomach on the side of the pool so they are stable and won't fall in. The person in the water will signal for help without touching the bottom of the pool!!
Now the person on the outside of the pool will quickly but carefully reach the pool noodle to the person so that they can grab onto the pool noodle then the person on the outside will slowly pull the person in. They then grab their arm and pull their hands to the edge and hold them there so they can try and pull themselves up again and swap over and do the same thing. This is me and Jasmine practicing.
